Trend Micro 5.1 Installation Issue

I had a problem installing Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent on an Exchange 2007 server running Windows Server 2008 Standard 64 bit.

I encountered 5 of the following “SideBySide” errors with event ID 33 in the event viewer:

Activation context generation failed for “C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft.vc80.mfc_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_none_c46a533c8a667ee7\MFC80U.DLL”. Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,processorArchitecture=”amd64″,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”,type=”win32″,version=”8.0.50608.0″ could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

To fix it I did the following:

Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) (Yes x86 on 64 bit)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13-9C99-220B62A191EE&displaylang=en

It installed fine shortly after!

Please post a comment if this has helped you :)

Go Google!

A funny thing I encountered today when downloading Google Earth Pro.

I am a fan of Google, but this just made me laugh!

Just incase you haven’t used it before, the browser I am using is Google’s own Chrome browser. It is actually a cool browser which I’d recommend.

Enjoy!
